  • Hashtag Comedy's Learning Center at The Fort 2000 South High Street Columbus, OH, 43207 United States (map)

Class Length: 4 Weeks

Time/Dates: 7-8:30pm, Thursday nights, 6/6-6/27

Registration: $97

Pre-Requisites: At least one level of improv training, or 1-2 years equivalent performance experience. Experience acting and singing in musicals also welcome.

If you've ever watched Wayne Brady make up a song on the spot on "Whose Line is it Anyway?", caught TBD: the Improvised Musical on a Friday night Up Front at Shadowbox Live or even just catch yourself singing little ditties for your dog on the daily, then Foundations of the Improvised Musical is the course for you.

In this four week foundational class, participants will learn
+Basic song structure and how songs are built
+How to improvise melodies, create rhymes and build strong choruses in the moment
+How to leverage emotion in your music to create a strong point of view
+The basics of group numbers
+The basics of on-the-spot harmonization
...and more!

This is a four week workshop, starting Thursday, June 6 and running for four consecutive Thursday evenings from 7-9:30.

The workshop is fun, immersive and interactive...and the best part is, just about ANYONE can do this class! That's right, you don't have to consider yourself a singer to enjoy and learn the material! Improvised music rewards those with the guts to try...even if you don't have a lot of musical or improvisational experience.

That said, some improv experience (at least level one classes with Hashtag Comedy, The Nest, Jeff Gage or Mark Hale, or equivalent stage experience) and familiarity with music and/or musicals will help you in this class. If you do not have equivalent improv experience, but have theater, acting or singing experience, this class may still be right for you. Please message to learn more!

Spots are limited for this class, so sign up soon!

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
