We all are familiar with comedic improv, but have you ever seen or performed dramatic improv?

What is dramatic improv? It is improv in its purest form. Can it be sad? Yes. Can it be intense? Without a doubt. Can it be funny? Of course!

In this four-week Dramatic Improv course, students will receive instruction and guided feedback as they examine and work through the following:

+The basics of long-form improv
+Learning understood story structure and plot arc
+Opening up to honest emotions and interactions
+Recognizing dramatic moments
+Learning what dramatic moments represent and how to use them to raise the stakes

PRE-REQUISITES: This course is for students who have taken level three or higher, or intermediate to advanced longform with either Hashtag Comedy or other local improv organizations (e.g The Nest, Jeff Gage, Mark Hale etc.), or have at least two years of performance experience in longform, or have studied dramatic scene work in another discipline. (If prospective students are unsure if their level of experience is right for this course, contact us! We're happy to discuss.)

The course will run for four consecutive Thursdays beginning 9/12, from 7-8:30. Spots are limited, so sign up soon!

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Andy Batt has been teaching and coaching improv for more than 15 years. He is the former coach of Columbus' longest running improv troupe FFN. He has developed and coached two long-form dramatic improv shows - FFN's Dramatic Turn and Control Cell.
